What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is a health care system that utilizes 
tiny needles to stimulate the Qi in the body’s energy pathways (meridians) to bring about harmony and thus…healing. Acupuncture has been used in the Orient for over 3000 years and was introduced to the United States in the 1970’s.
What is Qi? In its simplest terms, Qi is life energy. It is one of the fundamental substances that maintain the normal vital activities of the human body. In other words, Qi is needed for the body to function.
Does acupuncture hurt? I cannot honestly tell you that you will feel nothing at all. Everyone is different and some people really do not feel anything. The sensations you may feel include the insertion of the needle resembling a mosquito bite or the sensation of Qi. Everyone’s sensation of Qi is different and has been described as fullness, warmth, or heaviness. At the end of the session you may feel either sleepy or energized but always with a feeling of calmness and well-being.
Do you HAVE to use needles? No! There are many other modalities available to stimulate the Qi of the body.
Does acupuncture really work or is it just a placebo? Acupuncture is not a placebo. This is not possible since acupuncture also works on babies and animals. Acupuncture works by stimulating energy systems that we cannot see. Compare it to your microwave. You cannot see the microwaves produced but you believe they exist because of the end result. And the end result of acupuncture is good health.
Is acupuncture just for pain? Acupuncture is great for pain but can also be used for a large range of health issues including but not limited to neuralgia, bells palsy, allergies, heart problems, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, colds and flues, headaches, stomach problems, urinary problems, infertility and gynecological dysfunctions, addictions and weight loss.
